Both clinical as well as counseling psychology help us get relief from our psychological issues. Both clinical and counseling psychology at their own level deal with the identification and diagnosis, treatment as well as prevention of psychological conditions in individuals. From what is discussed till now it can be very safely inferred that both clinical and counseling psychology are very much similar to each other. In reality too they are similar. The only difference that one can locate between clinical and counseling psychology is related to the types of psychological conditions that they each deal with. Ideally in the case of a clinical psychology the cases that would come to them would be of the more serious nature and pertain to cases such schizophrenia, various kinds of phobia’s etc. Alternatively, when speaking of counseling psychology, here the psychologists handle patients who suffer from psychological disorders which generally appear from general everyday stress conditions and include career planning, academic performance, and marriage and family difficulties.
Regardless of the individuals that they end up treating, both clinical and counseling psychologists have the qualifications and training to help individuals get rid of their psychological disorders which when left untreated goes on to hamper their quality of life.
